Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College of Engineering (for Women) initiated two The Hindu Education Plus (E-Plus) clubs here on Monday. Over 80 students from various streams from the first year joined the E-Plus Club initiative.
Communication skills
Inaugurating the clubs, the Secretary and Correspondent of the college G. Madhukumar pointed out that compared to the scenario a decade ago, the job opportunities are in plenty but at the same time the competition is higher.
“To gear up to that competition one should give equal importance to both academic knowledge and communication skills,” he said.
The Director of the college K. Bhaskara Reddy said that communication skill is not merely language centric, but has other components such as team work and body language.
He urged the students to concentrate on academic subjects, English and general knowledge. “Knowledge gives confidence,” he said.
Post launch of the clubs, the Director of Conduira Md. Abdullah delivered a talk on importance of communication skills. He urged the students to interact with each other in English in the campus to enhance their hold over the language. “We all love our native tongue, but the global environment favours English.
The only common thread connecting us in this global village is the language of English, hence there is no escaping from it, if he or she intends to secure a job in a MNC,” he said.
Inaugural session
The principal of the engineering college B. Sambi Reddy presided over the inaugural session. Principal of Degree and PG College I. Parthasarathi and Chief of Bureau of The Hindu addressed the students. Vice-principal of the college Prof. Rehaman and other senior faculty members were present.
