Students acquire 20 per cent of knowledge in classrooms and should acquire the remaining knowledge and talents from seminars, cultural and social events on various fora, General Manager (HR) of Zuari Cements T. Nageswara Rao said.
In his inaugural address in “DVITS 2012”, a national-level meet for degree and diploma students at Vaagdevi Institute of Technology and Science at Proddatur coinciding with the institution's decennial celebrations, Mr. Nageswara Rao said students from rural areas often faced difficulties in facing interviews and presentation of their knowledge in job fairs due lack of confidence and boldness. Discipline and character were the success mantras for students and rural students should imbibe Swami Vivekananda's message in order to succeed in their ventures, he said.
The competitions ranged from folk dance to rap, singing, just a minute to win, chess, ‘rangoli' volleyball, exhibition of models, general and scientific quizzes and pen your thoughts and participating students enthralled the audience.

Literary club
A “Literary Club” was inaugurated at the Nalla Narasimha Reddy Group of Institutions to focus on enhancing the competence of students in English language skills, that helps define students' success in placements.
The literary club was inaugurated by C.V. Krishna Reddy, Director of the Institute. Later, students staged Shakespeare's “Julius Caesar”.
The faculty co-ordinator of Literary Club, Yahsaswini K.R. introduced the play and students Likhit, Sravan, Shashank and Sahithi rendered a splendid performance that received appreciation from the audience. Janardhana Raju, Dean, School of Engineering and B. Sridhar Reddy, training and placement officer were present. Rohini, first year student compered the show.
Meet
Einstein P.G College at Nadergul conducted a career awareness meet where degree students got an insight into the post graduate courses that can be taken by them in different streams apart from some tips on succeeding in the competition for those seats.
Several competitions like ‘Master Minds', ‘Street Smart', ‘Word Hunt', ‘Synergy', ‘Extempore' and ‘Sangeet Samar' were conducted to bring to the fore the scientific, general and artistic talent of the students. Prizes were given to the winners apart from certificates to all the participants. K. Nageswar, MLC was the chief guest and the other dignitaries were P.Rajeshwar Reddy, Chairman, Anurag Group of Institutions; K.Pardha Saradhi, Secretary & Correspondent, Einstein PG Colleges and N.S.P.Raju, Principal spoke. Alumni of the college also shared their experiences.
N-LIST
Vice-Chancellor of M.G. University K. Narasimha Reddy has called for use of e-resources at the college level for strengthening research activity and improving the quality of education.
Inaugurating the user awareness programme on ‘Access to e-resources under the National Library and Information Services for scholarly content' (N-LIST), organised by the Department of Library Science, N.G. College, in association with the varsity, he assured to take steps for usage of N-LIST programme by all affiliated colleges. The programme is funded by the Ministry of Human Resources Development.
K. Pochanna, Registrar of the university, who gave away certificates to the participating principals and librarians of the affiliated UG, PG, BEd, LLB and BLSc colleges, advised the institutions to opt for N-LIST to improve their library services. This would benefit students and researchers.
Nalgonda BSNL General Manager Babuji one of the distinguished guests, said all affiliated colleges could get each VPNB 512 Mb broadband connectivity only for Rs.1,125 per annum.
S.Sudarshan, head, OU Department of Library Science and Diwakar, head, CCMB Library, acted as resource persons. Dr. K. Bapuji, principal of the college, J. Laxma Reddy, programme coordinator, M.V.Gona Reddy, principal of Government Junior College for Boys and J. Ramamurthy, GCGTA general secretary, spoke.
