A three-day social outreach programme was initiated by the Department of Bachelor of Management Studies of St. Francis College for Women, in collaboration with Helping Stick Charitable Organisation (HSCO).

The programme was introduced as a part of the curriculum to raise social awareness of students.

The programme began with a guest lecture on success and the importance of education at St. Peter’s High School, Hyderguda followed by activities to raise awareness on road safety, cleanliness, sanitation, health and hygiene. Students, along with the staff found themselves amidst an enthusiastic crowd of youngsters who were eager to learn and interact. A dustbin was installed in each of the classroom made by the school students with the help of the BMS students to inculcate a sense of cleanliness in students.

Another batch of students visited Asha Kiran Girls’ Ashram, an orphanage for girls where students spent the day educating the girls on the issues of health, hygiene and the importance of education. Clothes were also distributed. Games and quizzes kept the girls engaged.

The final leg of the programme was at Radha Kishen Balika Bhavan where the students conducted an interactive AIDS awareness programme for the girls of the ashram and also held a short session on civic sense using visual aids. The students also organised games and entertained the girls of the ashram.
