CTET to be held on January 29

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi, has invited applications for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET, 2012) to be held on January 29.

It is an essential qualification for appointment of teachers from classes I to VIII in any of the schools run by the Union and the State governments or the local self-governments, including Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas.

The test will be conducted by the appropriate government in accordance with the guidelines framed by the National Council for Teacher Education on behalf of the CBSE.

Paper I of the test will be held from 10 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and paper II from 1 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. Clearing Paper 1 is the minimum qualification for getting appointed as teachers for classes I to V. The minimum qualification to take Paper I is a pass in Plus Two or equivalent examinations with at least 50 per cent marks.

Clearing Paper II is the minimum qualification required for getting appointed as teachers for classes VI to VIII.

The minimum qualification required to take this paper is a degree with at least 50 per cent marks. Those who are appearing, or have appeared, for the qualifying examination and awaiting results are also eligible to apply. An applicant can appear for both papers. The detailed eligibility criteria can be had from the website www.cbse.nic.in, www.ctet.nic.in.

Application forms and information bulletins can be had from selected branches of Syndicate Bank till November 25 on payment of Rs.500 (Rs.250 for applicants belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and those physically challenged). In Kerala, the branches at Thiruvananthapuram (Statue), Ernakulam (Poineer Towers, Shanmugham Road), Kozhikode (Cherooty Road) Kottayam (Baker Junction), and Thrissur (Palace Road) will distribute the forms.

The filled applications, along with documents, should be sent to the Assistant Secretary (CTET), Central Board of Secondary Education, Shikshasadan 17, Rouse Avenue, New Delhi – 110 002, so as to reach the addressee on or before November 30.
