I have a MA (English), B.Ed qualification and am currently working in a school. In 2013, I will be getting an opportunity to work in a PUC college and teach English language (not literature per se). I would like to know if there any institutions or universities that will offer programmes in English language teaching. Since I am not in a position to pursue campus education, I would prefer the distance/correspondence route.

The English and Foreign Language University (EFLU) ( >www.efluniversity.ac.in ) (formerly CIEFL) is a centre of excellence for languages.
It offers two teacher-training programmes: Post-Graduate Certificate in the Teaching of English (PGCTE) and Post-Graduate Diploma in the Teaching of English (PGDTE).
Compulsory contact programmes are a feature of all the distance mode programmes offered by the university. They are held at Hyderabad and sometimes at other places too within India. Apart from the final evaluation, all the programmes also have internal assessment, which is based on the assignments you are required to do during the programme. The number of assignments and the period of the contact programme vary in each course.
Self-instructional materials are provided for the PGCTE and PGDTE programmes. Materials for the research programmes are custom-made to suit the needs of the researchers.
The scholars have to attend contact programmes both during coursework and during thesis writing.

Many universities now offer Social Work as one of the combinations at the Bachelor's degree level. Some universities and their affiliated colleges offer the three-year BSW course. The Master's degree course (MSW or MA) is available in over 50 universities and a large number of colleges affiliated to them.
The courses offered by TISS and the Delhi School of Social Work (Delhi University) are rated very high in the employment market (the list is by no means exhaustive).

You should encourage your son to prepare for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) that is conducted every year for admission to various law colleges across the country.
CLAT has to be taken once he completes +2 (PUC/Intermediate).

Practice as a lawyer
Practice with a legal firm
Take to specialised practice viz., Immigration, Taxation (Income, Corporate, Double Taxation), Patents
Start as Judge in the subordinate judiciary, by taking competitive examinations
Get nominated as Judge in the higher echelons of the judiciary after much experience as a lawyer.
Many Law graduates perform well in the corporate segment as the opportunities are ever increasing. However, in the initial years, one has to practice well to make a mark.
