It was a dream come true for me to study at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. It was my all-time passion for database management which led me to graduate from the University of Mumbai. I was determined, confident and focused about my plans as I had done thorough research on potential universities where I could further my research in database. It was a matter of pride for me to be admitted to the University of Strathclyde, one of the universities, whose application process, I had prioritised on.

Coming to the city of Glasgow was a challenge for me, but excellent support from the students’ union and a friendly administrative staff coupled with a colourful and informative freshers’ week meant that it took me no more than a few hours to feel that I belonged here. It was my privilege to study in this environment under the guidance of highly-qualified staff along with students from multi-faceted backgrounds. The master's in Information Management has introduced me to the dynamic world of databases. The brainstorming discussions in class enabled me to realise my potential.

The courses were well-structured with a mixture of database management, business analytics and information systems as the core subjects. This exposed me to various programming languages and also important tools which could be used to analyse data. I had gained valuable skills and knowledge in business data and business analysis. Alongside the theory and technical skills, I also developed effective communication skills, application of research methods and creative problem solving abilities, which I am sure, will enhance my skills as an information leader.

As part of the course, students are expected to work on individual research projects on approved topics. This allows us an opportunity to pursue an area of specific interest and provides scope for original thought, research and presentation.

I utilised every opportunity to be part of various societies and groups in the university which helped me in socialising and getting to know more people. The excellent careers service, including frequent workshops and events, boosted my confidence to face the competitive job market. There are plenty of part-time job opportunities for students which are helpful in developing certain skills and managing finance.

Glasgow is one of the friendliest cities to live in. I strongly believe that the historical city of Glasgow is an ideal location to enjoy student life. The city is filled with multi-cuisine restaurants, night clubs and art galleries which are easy to commute to and make weekends enjoyableI am sure that coming to the University of Strathclyde is one of the best decisions of my life. My experience in the university was amazing. I have best friends, new dreams, and new goals, and I will cherish each one of them using what I have learnt in the university.
