Complaints related to electricity dominated the grievance meet .

Electricity-related complaints dominated the grievance meeting organised by Villivakkam MLA J.C.D. Prabhakar at SIDCO Nagar recently.

Many residents complained that during the recent spell of rain cable wires got snapped and the problem was not rectified immediately.

Other grievances included lack of water supply and overflowing drains. A group of women complained that they did not receive water supply for days.

“The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board would provide Aerial Bunched Cable (ABC) instead of four overhead wires and an underground cable. This will solve the problem of overhead wires. The fault can be rectified immediately. The safe and shock-proof aerial bunched ABC would be installed in SIDCO Nagar soon,” Prabhakar said.

According to a TNEB Divisional Engineer, “The modern aerial bunched cables would be installed soon at SIDCO Nagar in the Villivakkam constituency.”

The MLA said that a new sub-station was being constructed at Ayanavaram and power fluctuations in the area would be resolved with the installation of transformers in 52 places.

With regard to complaints from people in Villivakkam that they had to travel two to three kilometres to pay their electricity bills, Prabhakar said he was doing everything possible to ensure a TNEB payment office is set up at SIDCO Nagar .

S. R. Vijayakumar, MP, Central Chennai, said a post office would be established from his local area development fund in the locality soon.

V. Vasantha, councillor, Ward 94, officials from Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB), Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and Chennai Corporation and office bearers of Residents’ Welfare Associations attended the meeting.
