Special school offers 18-month programme in computer skills

Swabodhini School for Special Children in Thiruvanmiyur is offering an 18-month training programme in Computer and Office Administration Skills for those with special needs. It is an initiative of Swabodhini Charitable Trust with the support of United Way of Chennai.

As part of the join venture, a vocational training centre-cum-computer science lab has been opened recently at the school.

Its inauguration was attended by Lakshmi Narayanan, vice-chairman, Cognizant Technology Solutions; Shymala Ashok, executive director, United Way of Chennai; and Narayan Vaghul, former chairman of ICICI Bank. Board members of the Trust — Radha Ganesan, Anuradha Mahesh and Chandra Nagarajan — were present as well.
