The 10th anniversary of magazine Samudhra anniversary was celebrated on November 18 at Infosys Hall, Ramakrishna Mission School, T. Nagar. The programme began with namasankeertanam performance by students of Vani Vidyalaya.
The function was inaugurated by Alwar Kannan, Deputy General Manager, State Bank of India, Chennai. Dr. Radha Bhaskar, editor of Samudhra, welcomed the gathering and thanked all the readers and sponsors. The magazine has so far published 121 issues. Senior musicologist Dr. M.B. Vedavalli was conferred the ‘Gnana Samudhra’ award which carried a cash award and citation. The Mudhra music diary-cum-directory 2013 was released by P. Suresh, Director, Arun Excello; and Samudhra’s special anniversary issue was released by actor, S.Ve. Sheker. Mudhra Bhaskar, associate editor, proposed the vote of thanks.
The function was followed by a thematic dance presentation ‘Krishna Madhuryam’ by Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala and group along with guest artists Srikanth and Ranjith Babu. The dance with multi-media presentation was entertaining.
