Wise and courageous kings and queens, art and architecture and engineering marvels, all from bygone eras, were paraded in a mammoth production by the PSBB Group of Schools as part of its 58th anniversary celebrations at Kamaraj Arangam.

With period costumes, props and voice-overs, ‘Royal Footprints On The Sands of Time’, as the production was called, was theatrical in its format. Nearly 1,000 students from four PSBB schools were part of the production. The major portion of the show was choreographed by teachers. Spanning five days, the events were live-streamed.

The programme started with a tribute to A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, which was followed by a dance sequence narrating the stories of some of the evergreen kings and queens, including Bharatha, Gautama Buddha, Rama, Chatrapathi Shivaji and Jhansi Rani.

Through a dance sequence, students of PSBB Siruseri showed the glorious days of the Hoysala Empire, while a group from the K.K. Nagar branch presented how Ashoka came to embrace Buddhism and built vihaaras and stupas .

Three incidents were taken from the life of Narasimha Pallava to show how he left his footprints at Mahabalipuram.

The programme included presentations on the Great Wall of China and Ankor Wat.

The grand finale was presented by students from all branches where Swathi Thirunal Raama Varma’s achievements as a composer were shown through a dance ballet.

Meena Muthiah, secretary and correspondent of Chettinad Vidyashram, and historian Chithra Madhavan were the special guests at this event, which was held on Thursday.
