Every day, thousands of people use the stretch, which serves as a link road connecting Padapai, Vandalur, Thiruneermalai, Walajabad and Sriperumbudur.

Mudichur Road is in a shambles. Motorists and pedestrians taking the stretch at night feel extremely miserable. “In order to avoid the potholes and stones on the sides of the road, motorcyclists use only the middle of the road, thereby making it difficult for car users, ” says S. Vaithyanathan, a motorist. “The thoroughfare connects to Grand Southern Trunk (GST) Road. The thoroughfare, which is easily approachable from the GST Road, spares road users the trouble of taking a detour via Rajaji Salai, Gandhi Road, Shanmugam Salai and Kakkan Road. Every day, thousands of people use the stretch, which serves as a link road connecting Padapai, Vandalur, Thiruneermalai, Walajabad and Sriperumbudur.

Despite several representations to the authorities concerned, steps have not been taken to re-lay the road,” he added.

“The condition of the road has been remaining poor for several months. When it rains, the stretch becomes slippery and slushy. Also, a manhole, above the road level, and found in the middle of the road, poses a threat to motorists, especially at night,” T. Ramanathan, a car-driver, said.

“When service lane of the flyover, adjacent to this stretch, was re-laid recently, the authorities concerned did not take steps to re-lay this stretch. Both the stretches come under the jurisdiction of the Tambaram municipality,” A. Mahesh, a resident of West Tambaram, said.
