With summer at its peak, the animals at Guindy National Park are given special care to ensure that they don’t get dehydrated. A straw hut has been put up in the enclosure for barn owls, mats have been tied at the enclosure of palm civets, and green cloths have been tied at the enclosures for cockatiels, caimans, and Indian porcupines to help them cope with the summer heat.

Water and fruits such as watermelon, orange and citrus lime, and vegetables such as carrots and cucumbers are provided at regular intervals, said a staff. Besides this, wet sack bags are tied on the grilles, and water is sprayed on the sands of the enclosures.
