Chevalier T Thomas Elizabeth College for Women has started admission for UG, PG and MPhil courses. Ph.D in English (part time) and MPhil in English and Commerce are new programmes offered at the college.

“Last academic year, we introduced STEP UP (Supplementary Training and Enrichment of Personality) for undergraduate students that were very successful. Here, students listen to news for 30 minutes in the morning in an attempt to improve their language skills,” said Hanifa Ghosh, principal of the College. For details, visit www.cttewc.com

For the first time Madras School of Social Work has introduced online sale and submission of application forms. “This is to facilitate the number of outstation students we get every year for our UG and PG programmes,” said Vijaya Ragavan, principal. Counter sale of applications is also available. Sale of UG application forms will close on May 20. The common admission test for PG courses will be held on June 16.

Ethiraj College for Women, Egmore, is all set to become a wi-fi campus. “By the end of the month, all the work on networking various buildings should be completed,” said A. Nirmala, college principal. With this, students can access the internet with their laptop from anywhere on the campus. Also, work on installing eight CCTV cameras at Block I and five at Block II is on.

Management of Bharathi Women’s College is thrilled as they recently got NAAC ‘A’ accreditation. “This means we will get more grant from the University Grants Commission to improve amenities at the college,” said V. Lilly, principal. The college will start the first round of admission for admission to its 13 under graduate programmes from May 25.

Ambedkar Government Art College, Vysarpadi, has introduced two new courses this year — B.Sc (Psychology) and Masters in Social Work. “Both are rare programmes offered at government colleges and we should be getting a good number of students,” said Sasikala, principal. B.Sc (Visual Communication) and B.Sc (Nutritional Science) are a few other courses that are getting popular.
