Display boards in Tamil at Chromepet bus stop

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has put up display boards (in Tamil) of the route numbers inside the Chromepet bus stop.

The number-boards have been put up on route-basis, towards Guindy, Adyar and Thiruvanmiyur – 21G (Broadway – Tambaram), PP21 (Broadway – Guduvancherry), 577 (Mandavelli – Chengalpet), 91 (Thiruvanmiyur – Tambaram), and 91G (Thiruvanmiyur – Guduvancheri); Guindy, Saidapet, DMS, TVS and Chennai Central – 1B ( Thiruvottiyur – Tambaram), 18A ( High Court – Tambaram), 18A (High Court – Tambaram), 500 ( Chengalpet – T. Nagar), 500B ( High Court – S.P. Koil), B18 ( Korukuppet R.S. – Vandalur Zoo), E18 ( High Court – Guduvancherry) and G18 (T. Nagar – Guduvanchery), Pozhichalur, Pammal and Kundrathur – M52 (Pozhichalur – Guduvanchery), 52C (Hasthinapuram – T. Nagar), 66 (Poonamallee – Tambaram), 66A (Hasthinapuram – Kundrathur), PP66 (Poonamallee – Vandalur Zoo), 166 (Tambaram – Iyyappanthangal), 266 ( Avadi – Tambaram), 566 ( Kundrathur – Thiruporur) and 566A (Tambaram – Thiruvallur) and Ashok Nagar, Vadapalani and Koyambedu – 18M ( Vadapalani – Tambaram), G70 ( Vadapalani – Guduvanchery), 70A ( Avadi – Vandalur Zoo), 114 ( Red Hills – Vandalur Zoo), 170A (Madhavaram – Vandalur Zoo), 170T (Vandalur Zoo – Kaviarasu Kannadasan Nagar), 170K (Ambattur O.T. – Guduvanchery) and 170L (Kallikuppam – Vandalur Zoo).

According to official sources, display boards in Tamil and English will come up in bus stops across the city. The initiative will be carried forward in a phased manner.

Commuters have welcomed this initiative by MTC. They have urged the officials to have route boards displayed in Tamil, English and Hindi.
