Cottonfab, an initiative to bring buyers and weavers together on a common platform, has opened at Valluvar Kottam, Nungambakkam High Road.

The exhibition-cum-sale of various handicraft and handloom products is being organised by Awadh Hathkargha Hastshilp Evam Gramodyog Samiti, Lucknow, under the Ministry of Textiles.

S. Ahmed from Lucknow, a senior weaver who has trained nearly 300 weavers, inaugurated the exhibition. The work of weavers from self-help groups, covering fabrics in cotton and silk, block prints with dhaboo and a range of furnishings are on display. Chikan silk works of Rani Siddiqui and Kumari Shahzadi – weavers from Uttar Pradesh who have won awards – are part of the display.

The exhibition is on till May 22.
