The floodgates of memories were opened for the alumni of Gopalapuram Boys Higher Secondary School, when they gathered for reunion on the premises of the institution last week.

With students from batches 1942 to 1990 taking part in it, the reunion was a mega event.

The guests included G. Subramaniam, president of the Gopalapuram Education Society, and director Mysskin, who is known to his classmates as Shanmugha Raja.

“The event is one of the best I have attended. Even if I had been invited to the Oscars today, I would have preferred to come here,” Mysskin said.

Also in attendance were teachers, including R. Lakshmi Narayan, former headmaster, who had had a long association with the school.

Addressing the gathering, V. Ranganathan, head of the school’s alumni Association, said: “It is our duty as past students to provide all support to the institution so that it can carry forward its good work.”

The event concluded with the distribution of mementos to the teachers by the alumni.
