The Nuvvila girl Yami Gautam who wowed the audience with her confident portrayal of an unwed mother is making her Hindi movie debut with Vicky Donor . The film that is releasing on April 20 has VJ-turned-actor Ayushmann Khurrana playing the title role.

Yami is glad that her debut project is unconventional and different, it deals with a sensitive issue - sperm donation seldom talked about in the country.

“The response has been very impressive for the trailers, we already got seven-and-a-half-lakh views on youtube,” she says.

Yami is lucky to have entered the film industry at a time when the audience is opening up to concept-driven films that are unique and intelligent and has newcomers playing significant parts.

“Life is so stressful that it has its adverse effects biologically. This movie tackles the issue in a very mature but very light-hearted manner. It's not just comedy, it has a good story with a right package that has not been dealt even in Hollywood. This is John Abraham's first production venture and he is an absolutely a wonderful person to work with . The film is being directed by Shoojit Sircar,” she adds.

Yami is all praise for Juhi, the writer of the film. She adds, “If people living in a metropolitan city consider it a bold subject then Juhi deserves all the praise. She is a fantastic writer, hails from the hills in the North.

It takes a lot of courage, apart from being skilled, to churn out such a script and screenplay.

I have other projects in the pipeline but I guess it is too early to talk about them.”
