Super cool!

Shaping up: Tusshar Kapoor

With the sequel of “Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum”, ready for release next week, Tusshar Kapoor is once again trying to prove that he is still in the game when it comes to comedy. Talking about the sexual innuendoes in the film that have rubbed the purists and the CBFC, the wrong way, Tusshar says that the genre of sex comedy has become cool and trendy. He shares his experience about working in the movie and his dream of winning an Oscar!

There is a growing acceptance for adult comedies…

Yes indeed, the audience is gradually maturing. We waited for seven years to put out this sequel. It seems to be the right time to release such a film. Even families today have become receptive. It’s a movie which any family person can see with his friends and have a great time. We have not made this film to impart any social message. It is an entertaining movie meant to help audiences get rid of their stress. It is an unpretentious and unapologetic attempt to make people laugh. It falls in the bracket of “Delhi Belly” in terms of intent. “Delhi Belly” was a black comedy, while ours is a sex comedy, which a common person can identify with. It’s not an elitist movie like the “Delhi Belly”.

According to you, how much is too much?

See, the characters should be played nicely. If the story is good, then the graph of the film goes up. When a movie misses out on these things, even harmless jokes seem to be vulgar and suggestive. A film has to hold the attention of the public. If it succeeds in doing so, then nothing is too much.

Will family audience accept it?

Why not? Why do people keep double standard? Everyone loves being naughty. Then why to portray yourself as Mr. Goody-two-shoes? During the narration we talked to some couples. Interestingly, they weren’t happy with the toned down humour. So we decided do keep up the ante and put in more adult jokes.

What is the one quality of your character in the film which you admire?

He’s a sincere, simple and a true lover. He is very romantic and he does a lot of things with sheer devotion.

How do you perceive yourself 10 years down the line?

I’ll still remain an actor. Hope, my acting and audience’s love goes on to a new level. I won’t be entering direction for sure. I would love to get India an Oscar in acting. It will be a big thing for me.
