Actor Bindu Madhavi

Wearing many hats

Chinni Jayanth wears many hats with ease — that of an actor, mimicry artiste, producer and director. He has acted in over 300 films in all the South Indian languages and has over 1,000 shows across the globe as a mimicry artiste. The Tamil films he has produced and directed are “Chinna Pulla”, “Unakkaaga Mattum”, “Kaanal Neer” and “Neeye En Kaadhali”. And, now he's gearing up for his next production and direction “Mannippaayaa” with Priyamani in the lead.

Says Chinni Jayanth: “The film revolves around a Visual Communication student who covers a controversial story for her internship project. In the process, she breaks traditional moulds. The film also focusses on drugs rehabilitation.” The film's cast includes Ajay Rathnam, Kovai Sarala, Kishore, Mano Bala and Ilavarasu. Chinni Jayanth has roped in Dhrona, a new music director for the film.

On cloud nine

Kajal Aggarwal is happier than ever, thanks to her Hindi hit “Singham”, and busier than ever, thanks to plenty of projects lined up. She is busy working round-the-clock with some of the top stars in Tamil — Suriya in “Maatraan” (directed by K.V. Anand), “Thuppakki” with Vijay (directed by A.R. Murugadoss) and “All in All Azhagu Raja” with Karthi (directed by Rajesh M.). “I am thrilled to be working with some of the leading actors and directors of Tamil cinema. Each movie is a learning experience. I am paired with Karthi for the second time (after ‘Naan Mahaan Alla'), and I'm waiting for the shoot to begin,” says Kajal.

Change is the spice of life

Change in the film industry is always much talked about. Particularly, film titles and actors' names. The title of Vishal's new film was “Samaran”. However, the buzz now is that the film's director has changed it to “Samar”. As for actors changing their names, one more has joined the list. Bindu Madhavi is now Bindhu Sagar — Sagar being her brother! Apparently, Hansika Modwani wants everybody to call her just Hansika. Last heard, even a few upcoming stars and technicians were busy changing their names.
