Actor Dhanush

Star shopping

As much as Dhanush is thrilled about bagging the National Award, all his happiness right now seems to be coming from the fact that his father-in-law Rajinikanth's health is improving. Says a relieved Dhanush: “He's making remarkable progress, and is reading a lot and watching television. In fact, he even has plans to shop for a couple of days in Singapore! He was pleased at my having won the Award.” The actor, with the crew of “Aaduklam”, called on Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa recently.

Creative urge

Music director S.S. Kumaran who shot to fame with his first film “Poo” now wields the megaphone for “Theneer Vidhuthi”, which is set to release this month. “I've always had this urge to keep experimenting. I do not wish to be tied down to just one aspect in films. And that, perhaps, explains why I composed music despite having studied cinematography at the Tamil Nadu Film and Television Institute. I'm venturing into films after dabbling in advertisement.” “Theneer Vidhuthi” has Adith and Reshmi in the lead. It has three songs, and is said to have won the appreciation of the Censor Board. His next directorial venture is “Kerala Naattilam Pengaludane”.

On and behind the screen

In 2007, Chandini drew the attention of film producers by winning the ‘Miss Photogenic' title in ‘Miss Chennai' contest. However, she did not accept offers till K. Bhagyaraj approached her for “Sidthu +2”. Now, the actor has completed her graduation in Visual Communication, and is the assistant director for her next film “Padithurai”. The film's directed by Suga, an associate of director Balu Mahendra. “In ‘Padithurai', where I play the lead, I've tried the Tirunelveli dialect, and it was challenging. But, I'm happy to have done the dubbing for both my films,” the actor says. She has two more projects in hand, and says she's waiting for the right script to come her way.
