Guess which actor has jumped on to the singing bandwagon? Arun Vijay croons ‘Poondhamallithaan' along with veteran L.R. Eswari for the film “Thadaiyara Thaakka”. The actor says: “It was not planned. I went to the recording theatre to listen to L.R. Eswari sing, when music director Thaman asked me to give a voice test for the song's male voice. I was reluctant to try, but he just asked me to give it a shot. Once I did, both the film's director Magizh Thirumeni and the music director said my voice was suited for the kuthu song, and well, here I am! But the proudest moment was getting to sing with L.R. Eswari.” The lyrics for the song are by Vaali. Produced by Mohan and Hemant for Feather Touch Entertainment, the film is an action thriller, with Sukumar handling the camera and editing by Praveen Srikanth.

Back to the small screen

Khushboo will once again don the greasepaint for the small screen. She has completed 36 episodes of “Paartha Gnyabagam Illaiyo”, a serial for Kalaignar TV, to be telecast Monday to Thursday from the first week of March. She's completed a Malayalam film, and may finalise a script for a Tamil film for her production house. “I kept off acting for a while because of two reasons — not getting characters that go with my age and the fact that I wanted to take care of my family,” says the actor.

Building bonds

“As the level of rainfall comes down globally, the demand for water increases and war over water begins. Around then, Col. Pennycuick comes to India and helps the people save water by building a dam,” says Rajaguru, summing up the story of his film “Ondipuli”. “The story begins in 1996, and the colonel's great grandson visits the dam, and he is treated to a rousing welcome by the people,” he says. The lead is played by a German Elena Hasan, who's learning Tamil. Music is scored by James Vasanthan and the lyrics are by Vairamuthu.
