Red, now in India

July 18, 2012 12:56 pm | Updated 12:56 pm IST - CHENNAI:

Red Digital Cinema, a firm that manufactures digital cinematography cameras and its accessories, announced the launch of its India operations on Tuesday.

“These cameras are extremely popular all over the world for shooting some of the biggest films and also small independent regional ones, in different countries including India,” said Ted Schilowitz, co-founder of Red Digital Cinema.

Contrary to the existing myth that these cameras increase post-production costs, Mr. Schilowitz said that Red cameras have the most efficient and cost-effective post-production workflow compared to other cameras.

In the last three years, around 300 projects which include documentaries, feature films and television series have used Red cameras, Arjun Sablok, Operations-Head of Red India said.

In India, Billa II was shot using a Red Epic camera and Unnaipol Oruvan and Mumbai Express were shot using Red One cameras, he added.
