Are you ready for Jism 2? Are you ready for Sunny Leone? If your answer was “Yes!” you may or may not want to read further. If you said, “Sunny who?” you clearly have some catching up to do. So let me put this plain and simple: Sunny Leone is a Canadian porn star of Indian origin (real name Karenjit Kaur Vohra), who will make her Bollywood debut in Jism 2. She will, in a canny piece of casting, play a porn star hired by an intelligence officer (Arunoday Singh) to lay a honey trap for an assassin (Randeep Hooda). Since the film is a thriller, twists and turns of the plot will see her placed in a dilemma that will force her to choose between duty and her own safety. Going by the posters and stills judiciously released so far, she stars in what promises to be some of the most overtly erotic scenes seen thus far in mainstream A-grade Hindi cinema.
Director Pooja Bhatt, who has directed five films including this one, produced the Bipasha Basu-John Abraham starrer Jism in 2003. On twitter, she has called her film “an erotic thriller that truly reflects the times”. Bhatt is a woman who doesn’t indulge in fake humility or hypocrisy. So you have good reason to believe her here.
As for Leone, she has not only acted in a number of porn movies but also has her own production house. She has been a Hustler Honey, Penthouse Pet of the Year in 2003 and been voted one of the 12 top porn stars in 2010 by Maxim. She has declared she is bisexual but prefers men. Is there more to Jism 2 than this? Unlikely. No one is talking about Leone’s acting abilities. Or her co-stars Randeep Hooda (who does not seem averse to shedding his clothes when required) and Arunoday Singh.
The Censor Board (perhaps the most enlightened we’ve ever had) has cleared the film with a few voluntary cuts. However, it has given Jism 2 an A rating, so you won’t be able to make a family outing of this one. Presumably there will be other compensations.
