R aavanan , Deiva Thirumagal and Raja Paattai are some of the recent examples of unique characterisations and in which Vikram excelled. His journey in films has seen him getting under the skin of numerous characters. In fact, he is turning out to be a method actor. “Vikram spares no effort to look and feel the character. His dedication is remarkable,” says director A. L. Vijay. In Vijay's forthcoming Thaandavam , Vikram plays another exciting role that required him to shed a few kilos. “It's a character with multiple layers. It is a revenge story where Vikram sets right the several wrongs done to him,” explains Vijay, without revealing too much.

Close to life

Based on a true-life incident revolving around a person with cerebral palsy, Vinmeengal is an intense film about emotions and relationships. Rahul Raveendran plays the central character along with Anuja Iyer. “In the film, I get emotionally involved with Rahul while making a documentary on him. He finds it difficult to comprehend and decide between parental affection and love for me. For me, this is a role of a lifetime and gives me lots of scope to showcase my talent. It's extremely satisfying to essay such meaningful roles,” says Anuja. Vinmeengal is in the final stages of post production and is scheduled to release in March.

Friends and follies

Directed by Durai Karthikeyan, Unnodu Oru Naal is producer Arun Mozhi Manickam's maiden venture. “ Unnodu Oru Naal , which will release in April, is a musical/romantic thriller revolving around the lives of three young friends, the fun times and their follies,” says Arun. The film has Arjun, Gibran and Neelam (a model from Mumbai) playing the main roles.

Thrill pill

In his debut outing Pollangu , director Gandhi Marhx deals with an adventure thriller. This is a heroine-centric film featuring Mumbai theatre actor Nisha Lalwani in the lead, supported by Ravi Rahul whose character provides the suspense factor. “Normally songs have no place in a film of this genre. But, keeping the commercial aspect in mind, there will be one romantic duet and two others which will be integrated into the storyline. Music is by Zubin,” informs Gandhi.
