What's unique about Ulkuthu

Dinesh and Nandita play the unusual roles of a fish cutter and sales girl, respectively, in director Carthick Raju’s Ulkuthu. The film has been shot in Muttom, near Nagercoil. “Ulkuthu is an action-based script, with loads of humour and family sentiment. The action sequences in Ulkuthu have been uniquely filmed. For instance, a murder takes place during a game of kabaddi; we have shot the whole sequence with a steadycam,” says director Caarthick, who is teaming up with Dinesh and producer J. Selvakumar, for the second time after Thirudan Police.

Hunter and the hunted

Director Jaikrishnan Unnikrishnan calls his forthcoming film, titled Thakituthathuam, a ‘philosophy of gimmicks’. Starring Yog Japee, Bharani and Alisha Khan, it is an action thriller. “The story revolves around the money given to Yog by his mafia gang, which goes missing. The money is meant to be paid to a minister. The mafia suspects Yog and his friends, and they are relentlessly pursued by the gang. This is where the philosophy of gimmickry comes into play, and affects both the hunter and the hunted,” says Jaikrishnan Unnikrishnan.

Brand of humour

Film and TV personality, Bosskey, is launching Bosskeytv.com, an IPTV (Internet protocol television) multi-segment comedy channel. The CEO of Bosskey.com, Haricharan Srinivasan, who is also a film director and producer, says, “The creative team is being headed by Bosskey. The idea was born out of the fact that in Tamil Nadu we have not been able to create a brand out of comedy or comedians, as with say, Cyrus Broacha. Actor Suriya will officially launch the channel on November 26.”
