To the big screen



After making a name for himself in TV serials like Kana Kaanum Kaalangal and Office, Vishnu began getting film offers. “But I had to wait till my contract period expired,” he says. Vishnu has now finished work on his first film, Mappillai Singam, in which he plays second lead to Vemal. While this film is awaiting its release, his second film, in which he plays the main lead, Ivan Yarendru Therigindratha?, is now in post-production. Directed by Suseenthiran’s assistant, Suresh Kumar, the film has two heroines — Varsha and Ishara — and Vishnu plays “the role of a young entrepreneur in search of a girl to fall in love with and marry. But my business fails and my relationships fail too. Do I recover and get my ideal mate?”



Chennaiite nominated for Hollywood award



'A Los Angeles-based Chennaiite, composer Ramesh Kumar Kannan, is ecstatic that his Labyrinth (directed by Ping-Wen Wang) has been nominated for the sixth annual Hollywood Music Media Awards. “Sir Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Thomas Newman and Danny Elfman are among the list of nominees for this year, in different categories. This event is a precursor to the Golden Globe and Oscars. The winners will be revealed during a ceremony at The Fonda Theatre in Hollywood on November 11,” says Ramesh, who was part of the team that composed music for films like Minions, Begin Again, Killing Season and Game of Assassins. “Labyrinth stars Mary Beth Pape and Valeska Miller and is about an elderly woman suffering from Alzheimer’s, who has one final chance to reconcile with her daughter,” says Ramesh Kumar Kannan.

Thrills all the way from Japan to Chennai



Director Ram Manojkumar got the idea for his first film while he was assisting in the making of Naaigal Jaakirathai. "The story takes place over a period of two days in the life of the hero (played by Abhimanyu), a Tamilian settled in Japan. He takes a short trip to Chennai to meet his girlfriend (Sakshi Agarwal). And then, some thrilling developments occur during the difference in the time zone between his departure from Japan and arrival in Chennai," says Ram. The film titled Adhyan, and is scheduled for release, this week.
