Actor Sarwanand, who made quite an impact with his debut Tamil film Engeyum Eppodhum , is thrilled about his film with actor-director Cheran. Recalling the moment, Sarwanand says, “One day I got a call from Cheran, and he wanted to talk to me about a film. Imagine my shock when he said he wanted to cast me as the lead in JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkkai ! Working with him was an experience in itself; I learnt a lot during the shoot. When the shoot was over, much to my surprise, he asked me to dub for the film. This will be my first Tamil film to come out in my own voice. I can’t wait for the audience reaction.”
Father and son
Director Thyagarajan is gearing up to shoot in the Philippines. He says, “The destination is not new to me. I shot for over a month in the country way back in 1986. When I recently met a government delegation from the country, they asked me to shoot in their country and offered all support. I’m planning to start the filming next year, with my son Prashanth in the lead.” Meanwhile, the director has plans for two more films, including one in Hindi, with his son.
Arabian influence
Singer Padmalatha has sung nearly 300 songs in South Indian language films, and in Hindi and Tulu too. Right now she’s excited about two songs. “One of them is a Tamil song with heavy Arabic influence and another is a strikingly different number by music director Ghibran,” says the singer, who has sung for the likes of Nazriya Nazim, Kajal Aggarwal and Shriya Sharan.
Look who chips in!
Harris Jayaraj, who has composed the music for Selvaraghavan’s Irandam Ulagam , was not able to do the re-recording for the film due to his other commitments. So in comes Anirudh! We now hear that both the director and the music director have flown to Budapest to record a symphony, which is to be the background score for the film. Apparently, the two are also planning to complete a major portion of the re-recording there and return with the complete track. Irandam Ulagam is said to be a story of love and adventure. Arya and Anushka play the lead.
