The countdown to The Amazing Spider Man-2 has begun.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui continues to make his presence felt in film festivals. The latest is Liar’s Dice, which has been selected for the competition category at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival. After Peepli Live, Liar’s Dice is the only Indian film to be selected in the competition category at the prestigious festival. The film stars the talented actress from Sikkim Geetanjali Thapa (of I.D and Monsoon Shootout fame) and a debutant child actor from Shimla, Manya Gupta in central roles along with Nawazuddin.

The Malayalam actress Geetu Mohandas who marks her directorial debut with this film says, “I am thrilled about Sundance. Even though we worked in the most difficult terrain, the shooting experience was very enjoyable.”

Divulging on the plot of the film she reveals, “The film tells a story of a young mother from a tribal community who along with her three-year-old daughter embarks on a journey leaving her native land in search of her missing husband and encounters an army deserter who decides to accompany them to their destination.”

“The travel story stretching from a small village, Chitkul on the Indo-Tibet border to the industrial city Delhi is set against the backdrop of the socio-political conditions of India where millions of labourers go missing and are considered just a number in government records,” she adds. The film is shot by ace cinematographer Rajeev Rai of Dev D, Gangs of Wasseypur and Monsoon Shootout fame.

The bond blossoms

After a dynamic partnership in Shahid, director Hansal Mehta and actor Raj Kumar Yadav are joining hands once again with Mehta’s next film Citylights, which is going to be co-produced by Vishesh Films. It is an official remake of UK’s award wining film Metro Manila. The film has just won the Moet British Independent Film Awards and was audience’s choice at Sundance Film Festival 2013. It is also Britain’s Oscar entry in the Best Foreign Language film category.

Starting from Rajasthan, it captures the life of a poor farmer who comes to Mumbai in search of a better life. Yadav is paired opposite newcomer Patralekha. Mahesh Bhatt describes it as a moving love story that begins in a village and peaks in a city.

Dhoom for the Arab world

It is surprise treat for the Arab fans of this cops-and-robbers high speed, action adventure. Along with the top singing stars from India, the album will now also feature Naya, who has created her own space in the Arab music world since her debut in 2009 with her brand of music and singing the title track of Dhoom:3 will no doubt add another feather to her cap
