Car journeys during my childhood were spent listening to the tapes of S. Ve. Shekher and Crazy Creations. I still recollect how we would repeat all the lines, and laugh every single time. Shekher’s comic timing, with his counters and puns, is his strength. When we started chatting, I noticed how he keenly observes the person talking to him. His pupils contract, and pat comes a fitting response. He is a handsome man, with a mischievous face. It’s easy to miss his wit if you aren’t sharp enough.

I asked, “How and where do you draw the line with your puns?” He replied, “It is all in the way one responds to the pun. There is a very fine line between being funny and being vulgar,” he said.

During shooting, he kept posing with his signature smile. His strength, however, is not his facial expression. It lies in his intelligent responses.
