What it is about…

Produced by Maanas Film Corporation, Vinmeengal is written and directed by Vignesh Menon. Anand J. is the cinematographer and G. Sasikumar, the editor. Jubin has scored the music and Na. Muthukumar has penned the lyrics. Rahul Ravindran, Vishwa, Shikha and Anuja Iyer play the lead roles. Pandiarajan has an offbeat role in the film, extensively shot in Chennai and Ooty. The audio of the film was recently released.

Music Highlights

There are six songs in the album. “Un Paarvai” is in a major scale with a few western notes in the charanam. Sung by Hariharan and Harini, the mesmerising BGM has the strains of the veena and the flute. ‘Vazhi Maari' in Sankarabharanam, sung by Ajeesh, is good, the piano and the guitar enhancing listening pleasure. ‘Nee Kaatil' in Harikambodhi is rendered by Shankar Mahadevan to the accompaniment of string instruments. Bhoomi Engum, composed in Karaharapriya, is complemented by the strumming of the guitar and voices singing in harmony. ‘Ariya Paruvathil', sung by Bombay Jayashree and Rahul Nambiar, in raga Nada Bhairavi, is a must-listen. ‘Kadhalum,' the last in the album, is pathos-filled and sung by Karthika and Ajeesh. What's unique about this track is the violin and the bass guitar. What they say…

Producer-director Vignesh Menon: Writer, producer, director and editor K. Shankar is my grandfather. After finishing Visual Communication from Loyola College, I did MBA. I continued to make independent films which were screened at national and international film festivals. Vinmeengal is my first commercial project in Tamil. Inspired by a real-life incident, the film portrays a mixture of emotions everybody can relate to.

Hero Rahul: After completing a business degree with a specialisation in marketing, I had a stint in theatre and modelling. Moscowin Kavery marked my debut. Now Vinmeengal and Suriya Nagaram are lined up for release. The House of Abandoned Robots , an experimental sci-fi film in English, also awaits release. In Vinmeengal , I play Jeeva, a school teacher with cerebral palsy, who is confined to a wheelchair. Yet, because of the way he has been brought up, he spreads cheer wherever he goes. How he matures emotionally when faced with situations like falling in love, rejection and acceptance has been captured in the film. Playing the role required me to do a lot of research on cerebral palsy. But thanks to director Vignesh and the rest of the cast and crew, shooting was a breeze.

Music director Jubin:Vinmeengal is my first film. As it is a love story, I could come up with some melodious tunes.
