Produced by S. Michael Rayappan under his Global Infotainment banner, Pattathu Yanai is written and directed by G. Boopathy Pandian and features Vishal, Aishwarya Arjun and Santhanam in the lead. The film has cinematography by Vaithy, editing by A.L. Ramesh and music by Thaman. The audio of the film was released by producer Keyar and received by actor Arya. The film has comedy, sentiment and action in the right measure.

There are five songs in the album of which three are written by Na. Muthukumar and they are ‘Thatungada Melattha’ sung by Rahul Nambiar and M.M. Manasi, ‘Enna Oru Enna Oru’ sung by Karthik, and ‘Poosani Kaai’ by Gana Bala — all are sure to please the listeners. While ‘Raja Raja Naandhanae’ sung by Haricharan and Udit Narayan and written by Sarathy, is above average, ‘Thala Kaalu Puriyala,’ sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Suchitra and written by Annamalai, stands out for its lines.

Producer Michael Rayappan: I started my career distributing films and serials to various television channels abroad. One day, director Samuthirakani narrated a story to me. I decided to produce the film and that was Nadodigal , which became a super duper hit. Then I did Gorippalayam, Thenmerkku Paruvakatru, Adupuli and now, Pattathu Yaanai .
Director Boopathy Pandian: My first film was Thevathaiyai Kandaen and then came Thiruvilaiyadal Arambam, Malaikottai and Kadhal Solla Vandaen and now it is Pattathu Yanai . The first half of the film is hilarious, while the second half is for action lovers. Both Santhanam and Vishal have done a wonderful job; Vishal plays the assistant to Santhanam who runs a catering business. Aishwarya Arjun does not look like a new-find, performing her role with panache.
Hero Vishal: This is not the first time I am working with director Boopathy Pandian, I did Malaikottai with him earlier. As I knew how he would work I wanted to do another film with him, hence this comedy riot. Aishwarya Arjun, daughter of my mentor Arjun, under whom I started out as an assistant director, is paired opposite me. When I saw the rushes, I felt she looks like an experienced actor. It was fun working with Santhanam. We all had a beautiful time together.
Music director Thaman: Getting to score the music for a Vishal film is a first for me. Director Boopathy Pandian has a sound music sense so he was able to get the best out of me. I like all the songs in the album, especially Gana Bala’s ‘Poosani Kaai.’
