'Udta Punjab' finally gets censor certificate

In a drama filled day the makers of 'Udta Punjab' finally got the Censor certificate at 6.50 pm today. "It has been such a nightmare of a day," said producer Anurag Kashyap, cooling it off with a swim at Raheja Classique club in Andheri West. Now the film will release on the designated day, June 17, but things had been looking uncertain till late evening. "The board had been deliberately dilly dallying," said a source in Phantom Films. When contacted Anurag Srivastava, CEO, CBFC, blamed Phantom for not submitting the revised DVD on time. But, according to Mr. Kashyap, the CBFC lawyer had seen the film on Tuesday evening itself.

Meanwhile things got worse with the film getting leaked online. Rumours have it that it was the Censor copy with the Censor watermark on it. The makers tried to do damage control by removing it. "But I fear people would have downloaded it," said Mr. Kashyap. Phantom is hoping to take further action on it. "The links have to be checked, experts have to come to some conclusion as to who did it and how," said Mr. Kashyap. "It has come down to very petty level. Whoever has done it should not be allowed to get away with it."
