The fabulous five

The audio release of Thirupathi Brothers Film Media’s “Paiyaa” at Sathyam Cinemas was a star-studded event. Director Shankar released the audio, and actor Suriya received the first copy. Two songs from the film — ‘Thuli Thuli’ and ‘Adada Mazhaida’ — and the trailer were screened.

Produced by N. Subash Chandra Bose and directed by N. Lingusamy, the film has Karthi and Tamannaah in the lead.

Bigwigs present on the occasion included R.K. Selvamani, Parthepan, Mysskin, A.R. Murugadoss, Silambarasan, ‘Jayem’ Ravi, Karthi and Tamannaah.

The music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja. There are five songs in the album, all written by Na. Muthukumar.

The best is ‘Thuli Thuli’ sung by Haricharan and Tanvi, mesmerising with their magical voices. Benny Dayal has sung ‘Poongaatre Poongaatre’ in his inimitable style. Rahul Nambiar and Saindhavi have beautifully rendered ‘Adada Mazhaida’, the only song in which the voice of the female singer is predominant. In other numbers, it’s more a hum or merges with the background score. Karthik sings ‘Suthudhe Suthudhe’ along with Sunitha Sarathy. Yuvan Shankar Raja and Tanvi have sung the pleasing ‘En Kadhal Solla’. One wonders why the music has dominated all the numbers, pushing the voices of the singers to the back seat. What makes up for this the pacy rhythm.
