When a matinee idol and his die hard fans meet, you can’t do much but stand amazed at the communication between the two. He just waves at them and hundreds in the crowd respond ‘thalaiva’ in full throat. That is what happened at the Velammal Medical College, Madurai, where actor-director Kamal Haasan released the audio of his upcoming movie Viswaroopam .

It was a filmy entry to the venue for Kamal Haasan. He arrived in a chartered chopper and walked through the aisle with elan to reach the stage. He thanked the co-stars and music director Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa for their full cooperation..

Screening the trailer of the movie to the audience, he sang the number ‘Unnai Kaanadhu Naan Ingu Naanillaiye, Vidhai Illamal Vaer Illaiye…’ along with Shankar Mahadevan and the crowd erupted in joy.

Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah, who have paired the hero in this movie, spoke briefly about their work experience with the actor.

Quite unusual, Kamal Haasan invited physically challenged Badrinarayanan, a member of his fan club, to receive the first audio CD. He then distributed the CDs to those on the stage.

Reminiscing about his association with the actor, popular debater Prof. K. Gnansambandan said that the fans were celebrating the second Deepavali with the launch of the film’s audio. “I have seen from closer quarters how Kamal Haasan transforms into the character he dons,” he says.

Lakshman Sruti troupe kept the crowd in good humour with an entertaining music performance. They sang some of the popular numbers from the movies of Kamal Haasan.

The multi-million-rupee film also has Rahul Bose and Shekar Kapoor in its cast. Viswaroopam is the first Tamil film to be equipped with Auro 3D sound format. Vairamuthu has penned the lyrics for the Tamil version while Javed Akthar has done it for the Hindi version.
