How it happened
I was in Standard Nine then. It was while practising Bharatanatyam under the guidance of my first guru Dinesh Kumar at Bharathanjali, a dance school in Kerala, that I was approached by film director Sharath. He was looking for a girl to act in his film Sayahnam . I played the lead role with popular theatre artist O. Madhavan in the offbeat film. After a couple of Malayalam films, I landed a role in the Tamil film, Raman Thediya Seethai , directed by Jagan and featuring Cheran in the lead.
How it felt
It felt really great. I know the Tamil film industry is one of the biggest in the South. I saw the film in Kumbakonam, where I was working on my second film Aattanayagan with hero Sakthi, son of director P. Vasu. The whole unit watched the film with me; all of them appreciated my acting, which made me happy.
How life changed
Not much except that I became busy as well as popular. I am learning more about cinema through hands-on experience. So far I have done six films in Malayalam, three in Tamil and one in Telugu. Discussions are on for two films in Malayalam and one each in Telugu and Kannada. I was happy to do Muriyadi for Kavithalaya under Selva's direction.
