How it happened

I finished Engineering in Hindustan College, Chennai. As I am from Ooty, I have had opportunities to see film shoots taking place there. This kindled the desire to become an actor in me. However, I was clueless about how to make an entry into filmdom. Meanwhile, I had my portfolio done and gave it to people from the industry whenever I got a chance to meet them. During one such meeting, I was introduced to director ‘Marumalarchi' Barathi who took an instant liking to me and made me play the lead in my very first movie, Valluvan Vasuki .

How it felt

It felt great. When I saw my name in the credits during the screening of the film for the press at Four Frames, I was thrilled to bits. When I went to some of the theatres in the city, people instantly recognised me and began talking to me as if they had known me well. It brought tears to my eyes.

How life changed

My first movie was not much of a success. However, I kept trying and finally got to act in movies such as Nellu and Maharaja . Nellu has just released. I am sure Maharaja, an out and out entertainer, will make me a household name. Life has changed now after all these years of patience and struggle. There are two more films in the pipeline. I am waiting for the right break from a big production house and an able director.
