Prachi, a Kangana fan

Put two heroines together and expect sparks to fly, but not when it is Miss Congeniality Prachi Desai. Ask her whether she harbours any resentment towards Kangana Ranaut, her co-star in the forthcoming Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, and she bowls you over with her smile: “I will be meeting her for the first time for the promotions of the film and I'm damn excited. My sister and I are her biggest fans. When I got to know that Kangana is there in the film, I realised I had to pull up my socks, just to get noticed. Right from Gangster to Woh Lamhe to her best performance, Fashion, I have found her very inspiring.”

Weighty issue

Manoj Bajpai is the latest to join the bandwagon of actors who manipulate their weight to flesh out their on-screen characters. Manoj, who is basking in the spotlight after Raajneeti 's success, was asked to put on weight for his upcoming Dus Tola, in which he plays a small-town goldsmith.

Manoj admits, “Usually I have a balanced body, so I don't have to play around with it too much. But my director insisted that I should add weight on my face so that I could look innocent. I have gained seven kg for it.” His strategy? “I ate a lot of rice and did no exercise. I pulled it off in two months.”

And he took exactly two months to lose it after his work in the film was over. His modus operandi to lose weight was — “I started exercising and stopped eating rice.”

Close shave

Abhishek Bachchan had grown a beard for his first film Refugee in 2000, but it became his trademark after Bluff Master . Even his fans began sporting a stubble thereafter.

Recently, a clean-shaven Abhishek was a refreshing change in Paa; but his look is supposed to be sans-any-facial-hair in director Ashutosh Gowarikar's forthcoming, Khele Hum Jee Jaan Se .

Abhishek says, “I shaved after years for KHJJS. I even admitted that to Ashu(tosh) sir. In Paa too, I had trimmed my stubble but not shaved.” However, he says, he likes both the looks.

Another film together?

What do Sonam and Abhay have in common? Sonam's home production Aisha , and, according to the actress, “Also our mindset and acting styles.”

Sonam adds, “We get along really well and hopefully we will be doing another film soon.” But ask Sonam for details, and she smiles mysteriously: “The official announcement will be out soon. All I will say is it is not a home production.”
