Anushka's advice

While Anushka Sharma has become a bona fide star after the success of Band Baaja Baaraat , the girl still remains rooted. Much was made about the star buying her first designer bag and she makes no bones about her hesitation: “I had to think a lot about it because at the end of the day I come from a middle-class family. I earn well but I work very hard for it.”

Anushka also has some serious lifestyle advice for youngsters: “I don't think people, especially young girls, should value themselves based on the possessions they have,” she says. “I am 22. I don't feel very comfortable buying clothes from high-end designers. I shop from high street brands. I don't want girls to have a wrong impression about these things. I am working so I can afford these bags. A 16- or 17-year-old girl who is not working should not be laying pressure on her parents who probably cannot afford these bags just because she thinks that's fashionable. I too used to demand a lot of things from my parents. But they would always tell me that I could purchase these things when I was earning my own money.”

Musical with Priyanka

As if her talent before the camera is not enough, Priyanka Chopra is a decent singer too. So say those who have heard her sing. In fact, Priyanka's musical talent has got an endorsement from none other than Vishal Bhardwaj, a music composer and director.

Says Vishal: “I have heard Priyanka sing and want to make a musical with her wherein she would sing all her songs.” The filmmaker is all praise for his Saat Khoon Maaf heroine and says: “She is a volcano of talent.”

Naseer in a different role

Director Milan Luthria considers Naseeruddin Shah to be one of Bollywood's finest actors, alongside Nana Patekar and Amitabh Bachchan. Which is why he has cast him in a pivotal role in his next, The Dirty Picture. Based on actor Silk Smitha's life, this film co-stars Naseer's Ishqiya actor, Vidya Balan.

When Milan approached Naseer with the narration, he was surprised by the latter's question. He was asked, ‘Am I playing a saint or a lech?' Milan laughs, “Maybe it was the title.” Milan was quick to reply: “A lech is what your character is!” Naseer too says he is sick of “playing a do-gooder. I am sure Milan will extract great work from me as an entertaining lech!”

Arunoday admires Irrfan

Newcomer Arunoday Singh, who has made an impact with his edgy performance in Yeh Saali Zindagi, has some insightful remarks about his co-star in the film, Irrfan Khan.

Arunoday says admiringly: “Irrfan is smooth; it doesn't look like he is working. If you stand 10 feet away from him during a shot, you can't hear what he is saying. I really admire his style of acting.”
