Alayae O Alayae, written by Yugabarathi and tuned by Sathish Chakravarthy is, according to director Venkatesh Kumar G, the last song sung by M S Viswanathan (MSV), accompanied by Haricharan, in 2013. “I have featured this song in my film Neelam, but so far it has not been officially released. Recorded at Clementine Studios, the single will be released by Trend Music on July 14, which is the first death anniversary of the legendary composer/singer,” says Venkatesh, whose Neelam is yet to be released. Venkatesh plans to produce a video which will include shots filmed during the recording of the song as well as clips from his film featuring Alayae O Alayae. Photo shows Venkatesh and Kishore, the hero of Neelam, felicitating MSV during the recording session.

Man alive

A presumably dead man (age:24; year 2000), being taken in a procession to the burial ground, suddenly comes alive. Director Sasikumaran, in his debut film Papparapaam, traces the character’s life from his birth in 1974 to the year-2000 incident and till the present time. “All this is done in an extremely humorous way, making every incident a laugh riot. Adding to the comedy are John Vijay in a very crucial role, and Mime Gopi,” says Sasikumaran who has cast Vinod Kishan (Vidiyum Mun), Ishara (Sathurangavettai) and Yamini in the lead roles. Papparapaam is in the final stages of post-production and Sasikumaran hopes for an early release.

Mysskin’s Maitreya

He had always dreamt of acting in a film directed by Mysskin. But, Maitreya had to first accede to family demands to complete his education which included doing his MBA in London. “While in college I took part in several theatre plays. After returning from London, the first thing I did was to enroll in Aadhi Shakthi, an acting institute in Pondicherry (Naseeruddin Shah was one of its founders). Many theatre actors and even Bollywood stars go there for refresher courses and for training to prepare themselves for a particular role,” says Maitreya, a name which director Mysskin gave him when he signed up for the lead role in the former’s next film, which has Tanya (granddaughter of yesteryear actor Ravichandran) as the heroine. “Presently I am spending about 4 months in training to get into the skin of the character I play in his film. Although I am free to sign up any other film, I have decided to give this film my everything, before I take up my next,” states Maitreya.
