A good actor, you're not to be seen much these days…

I have acted in nearly 150 films. My recent film is Nagaram , produced by Kushboo and directed by Sunder C. My next film is the Hari-directed Vengai starring Dhanush as the hero. Now people want to see me in more films. Acting is my passion and I love to do a variety of roles.

Why was there such a big gap in your career?

I must thank Sunder C. for giving me a prominent role in my comeback film. After being in filmdom for so many years, I feel people should remember me and offer me roles; I am always there to work with them. I look forward to working with young directors — they have abundant talent.

Do you think acting in today's cinema has changed?

I don't think so. But, technology has advanced a lot, making the work of technicians and actors easier.

You are not only an actor but also a writer and director. Are you interested in directing a film now?

I have written eight films and directed three. I started as an assistant to Adhoorthi Subbarao and have worked as an associate to various other directors such as Thathamirasi and K.Viswanath. I am not interested in direction now, but don't mind writing scripts.

When you act in a film, do you offer the director suggestions?

Certainly not, as I know I am working in the film only as an actor and not in any other capacity. I always want to be a director's actor.
