Amitabh Bachchan has become the first Bollywood star to get his permanent wax statue at Hong Kong’s Madame Tussauds museum.

Bachchan already has his wax statue in London’s Madame Tussads, which had made a trip to Macau and Hong Kong in 2009 during the IIFA awards and was unveiled by the mega star himself.

The only other Indian statue at the museum, situated on a hill-top, is of Mahatma Gandhi.

Standing in the Hall of Fame, Big B’s wax figure is dressed in an Indian-style black suit and white trousers with red details. He had worn the dress for the opening of Salon du Cinema at Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris in 2009, a statement on the Tussauds’ website said.

“There are more and more Indian visitors taking the star-studded journey through Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. We are sure that the new Amitabh Bachchan wax figure experience will appeal to our Indian visitors, who will get to meet their legendary star here, as well as other local and international visitors,” Kelly Mak, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong said during the unveiling of the wax figure.

“As a key attraction in Hong Kong, we are dedicated to promoting the city’s tourism so are excited to be able to offer our visitors even more when they visit Madame Tussauds Hong Kong,” Mak added.

Bachchan’s statue was unveiled by TV actor Moses Chan and Mak amid a dynamic Bollywood dance performance.

The wax figure will be displayed against an exquisite Indian facade adorned with light bulbs. Guests will enjoy a theatre-style lighting show inspired by Amitabh’s movie ‘Aladin’ when they get closer to the iconic movie star and meet him “in person”.

It will be permanently displayed in the World Premiere zone at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, which has a number of Western attractions like Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Beatles, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Shakespeare, Picasso, Barack Obama, George W Bush and David Beckham among others.
