Director Bejoy Nambiar says it was daunting for him to direct megastar Amitabh Bachchan and actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar in his upcoming film Wazir.

Wazir stars Amitabh Bachchan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Farhan Akhtar and Varun Gulu.

“It’s very intimidating to work with such a cast. At no point did they treat me like a newcomer. I have to forget that I am directing Big B and Farhan to do justice to what Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Abhijat have written,” Nambiar told reporters at the teaser launch of Wazir .

“I am truly fortunate to work with such brilliant people. With Vidhu Vinod Chopra writing, Raju Hirani editing, and Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar acting. . . It’s been a fantastic experience. I sincerely hope the film measures up to everyone’s expectations.”

When the interviewers pitched their questions to Chopra, the writer, in turn, spoke highly of Nambiar. “I am very proud of this young man.” After briefly explaining the vital importance of producing a satisfactory script before beginning production, the writer added that “He [Nambiar] has nicely directed the film.”

In Wazir , Bachchan plays the paralysed chess grand master while Farhan Akhtar dons the tough look of an ATS officer.

In response to questions whether Neil Nitin Mukesh and John Abrahan too are part of this film, Nambiar disclosed that “They both make specials appearances in the film and assume pivotal roles.”
