Theatre group Shraddha is coming up with the second edition of ‘Kuru Naadaga Vizhaa-2,’ to be held at Mylapore Fine Arts, on July 8 and 9, 7 p.m. The plays are: Yosi , Varugalaamo , Jannal , Thathavin Petti and Thalaivar .

Varugalaamo , a mono-act, directed by S.S. Kalairaani, interprets bhakti (devotion) as protest and re-renders the agony of Nandanar, who belonged to an under-privileged caste. The performance seeks to depict the restrictions imposed on him by a caste hierarchy and the resulting oppression. The text is based on a moving composition by Gopalakrishna Bharati.

Yosi is a mime on the social awareness concepts by children, presented by Manorangz Team and directed by Manorangz Venkat.

Jannal is based on a short story by Sundara Ramaswamy, on his experience, when he was paralysed for a brief period and spent time in bed near a window (jannal). Visualised and dramatised by Anandsami, it is directed by N. Muthuswamy and music is by Vedanth Bharadwaj.

In Thaathavin Petti , written and directed by Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, ghostologist Peethambaram is called upon to carry out a strange mission — to communicate with a dead woman, so that he can get a code-word. What is it for?

Is it a ‘regular’ ghost or is Peethambaram up against something more sinister? Actors: Alexander Babu, Shravan Ramakrishnan, Vinodhini Vaidynathan. Presented by Theatre Zero.

Thalaivar , written by Swaminathan and directed by Krishnamurthy, is a political satire about two men in the lower rung of the political ladder trying to make the most of an extraordinary situation.

Supported by Abbas Cultural, the festival is curated by Shivaji Chaturvedi and Prema Sadasivam and presented by T.D. Sundararajan.

Sponsor sabhas are Kartik Fine Arts, Brahma Gana Sabha and Sri Parthasarathy Swamy Sabha.
