Get ready for 12 days of drama and action

The annual Tamil drama festival, organised by Kartik Fine Arts, is back with its 29th edition. It will be held at Narada Gana Sabha Main Hall, from April 22 to May 3 (7 p.m. daily).

Twelve troupes will inaugurate their plays this year at the festival, which is dedicated to veteran theatre personality late Y.G. Parthasarathy. A panel of judges will evaluate the performances for titles and trophies awarded at the end of the drama series. Apart from awards for Best Play and Actors, prizes for best review of each play will also be given on the award function day, June 1 at the same venue.

Writer Sivasankari will inaugurate the series on April 22 (6 p.m.) and K.M. Narasimhan, president, Kartik Fine Arts presides. Veteran actor and theatre personality A.R. Srinivasan (ARS), is the Guest of Honour.

The festival opens with Sathya Sai Creations’s play ‘Krishna Illa Nayantar,’ on April 22 . The other plays to be staged are:

April 25 : Legally Yours: ‘Sukla Paksham’

April 26 : Theatre Marina: ‘A.I. Vedalam’

April 27 : Stage Creations: ‘Veedu Varai Uravu’

April 28 : Mayurapriya: ‘Darmaspathiri’

April 29 : Augusto Creations: ‘Nagammal Padasalai’

April 30 : Koothapiran Navabharath: ‘Skanda’

May 1 : Gurukulam Original Boys Co. 95: ‘Theedum Nandrum’

May 2 : Nataka Kavalar Chemal R.S. Manohar’s NXG: ‘Manasatchi’

May 3 : Kalaivani: ‘Vilaiyattu Bommaigal’
