Once the reigning queen of small screen, Sanjeeda Sheikh returns with “ Love Ka Hai Intezaar” on Star Plus. She is playing a Bollywood actress Kamini Mathur who falls in love with a Rajasthani prince Madhav Singh (Keith Sequeira). Once a dance teacher, Sanjeeda says she never thought of becoming an actor before coming to Mumbai. “I never thought I would be an actor. It’s just my destiny and I hope this series will be one of the big hits of my career.”

Excerpts:

On her character in the series

Kamini is a famous Bollywood diva. She belongs to a big family but she is a very sweet, calm and simple living girl in her personal life. She loves her family, she follows the ethics and values taught by her family. She sleeps in her mother’s lap and fights over the last piece of chocolate. She doesn’t dream of luxuries, wealth or fame. She wants a life partner who loves her inner beauty rather than her stardom. The story is about how she finds Madhav Singh who is a prince of Rajgarh and how they both find the way for their love. I think my character in the show is real because stars like us also love to enjoy like an ordinary person. We want to do those small things which make us happy.

On the importance of the series in her career

For me, the characters I played in each of my shows were important, because I work very hard and always gave my 100 percent. There is a point in our life where we have to fulfil our one dream project and for me Kamini Mathur is my dream role and it is really important for me at this point of time in my career because I haven't done this type of role so far. I think the character in the show resembles the girl I am in my real life.

On her eventful journey

From fiction to non-fiction and reality shows, I have played many roles in the last decade. Every show teaches you something and gives you something new. The most important thing for me is appreciation from the viewers and the love which I get from them. This helps me to work passionately on my projects. Today, there are so many newcomers in the television industry who work so gracefully but still I got the opportunity to work as a lead in this show. Whenever I work on a new project, I work as if this is my first show and I have to put all my effort.

On her experiences during the shoot

This show was shot in different locations as we tried to give it a Bollywood movie look. We shot in different palaces in real conditions and also attended workshops before the shooting so that we know how all the characters in the series resemble and what kind of role they are playing and how they are interlinked. This is usually not done in daily soaps.
