Former “Wonder Woman” director Michelle MacLaren is reportedly being considered by Disney and LucasFilm as potential helmer for the second stand-alone “Star Wars” film.

The untitled film has eyed several names as director candidates including Jon Favreau and Matthew Vaughn, after losing director Josh Trank.

MacLaren reportedly met with Disney to discuss directing the movie. It was said to be an ordinary meeting and there was no further indication that she would get the job.

Sources said that Warner Bros had an issue with hiring MacLaren as director. Rumour said that her lack of experience with tentpole films raised concerns.

However, MacLaren has directed some of the best episodes of Breaking Bad , The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones . These projects should have marked her directing credit for both intense drama and large—scale action.

Previously, MacLaren was signed on to be the director of Warner Bros and DC Entertainment’s adaptation of Wonder Woman . Unfortunately, she left the project due to creative differences and was replaced by the former Thor: The Dark World director, Patty Jenkins.

There have not been many details about the movie but it is said to centre on conflict between Boba Fett and Han Solo.

The film is scheduled to hit theatres in the summer of 2018.
