Annamayya Pada Varadayani, a forum for promotion and propagation of Annamacharya’s compositions, celebrated its fourth anniversary on an impressive note at Kalabharati Visakhapatnam. In a marathon session consisting of group singing, sangitha rupakam and devotional concert, the event evoked warm response. Sattiraju Venu Madhav’s devotional concert formed the highlight of the celebration.
The event opened with brunda ganam (group singing) in the segment of unjal seva, wherein Chaganti Sandhya Sundar, S Indira Bharadwaj, J Sundaramnath, S Usha, M Revathi, J Lakshmi Prasanna, B Nirmala and Ch Radha Rani rendered a few sankirtanas with verve. Narayanate Namonamo in raga Begah, Vuyyala Voopulu in raga Anadabhairavi, Vuyyala Ballunuchedaru in Madhyamavathi and Jyoatchutananda and other compositions formed their choice. KVS Prasad on violin and Varanasi Jayadeep Sarma on mridangam lent good support.
With an accent on the melodic shades of the compositions, Sattiraju Venu Madhav brought out the lyrical beauty and devotional fervour embedded in the compositions of Annamayya in an appealing manner. His firm grip over the musical intricacies and good grasp of the emotive contours of the sankirtana at hand and fluid ease in its presentation made his rendition quite impressive and a pleasant experience for the audience.
Be it raga Sankarabharanam or Kharaharapriya, a composition in Vasantha or Shanmukhapriya, he brought out its musical charms in perfect sync with lyrical nuances. His soft and pliable voice meandered across the planes of a string of compositions highlighting its emotive claim in the process. He opened the session with Hariki Lankiniki in raga Hamsadhwani set to Rupaka talam and went on to render Vade Venkatadri Meeda in raga Vasantha. Alarulu Kuriyaga in raga Sankarabharanam, Ivi Seyaga Nenu in Bhupaalam, Pattinavarala in Kharaharapriya, Parama Yogini in Lavangi, Katakata Ayyo in Kapi, Nuravaddu taagavaddu in Suddha Saveri and Memu Neeku Anyulamaa in raga Hamsanandi formed his fare for the event.
H Ramcharan on violin and Mullapudi Raja Lakshman Rao on mridangam lent good support.
