Counted among the world’s most popular rock bands, U2, featuring Bono (in picture), The Edge, Larry Mullen and Adam Clayton, will make their India debut in December with a concert in Mumbai.
The Irish band will conclude their U2: The Joshua Tree Tour, which pays tribute to their fifth studio album, The Joshua Tree (1987), on December 15 at D.Y. Patil Stadium.
“We’re much looking forward to bringing a dash of Dublin to Mumbai. A country famous for its rich culture of art, music, movies, theatre, literature, food and so much more,” said Clayton.
Kicking off the tour in Auckland, the band will perform in Australia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Philippines and India. “Mumbai is the perfect city to end our JT 2019 tour,” said Mullen.
Winning the Album of Year award at the Grammys in 1988, The Joshua Tree topped the charts in over 20 countries, and became the fastest-selling album in the U.K. that year. It features the hit singles, ‘With or Without You’, ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’, and ‘Where the Streets Have No Name’.
General tickets will go on sale beginning October 1 at noon. Reserved seats are priced between ₹3,000 to ₹14,000 and general admission tickets start at ₹6,000 plus taxes.
