It’s never easy to handle success in a way that it doesn’t bog you down with all its overwhelming attention and stardom. Singer L V Revanth is well aware of it. After winning the music reality show Indian Idol this year, the singer has had his moment in the sun when he rose from a Southern singing sensation to a national talent.
“But Bollywood is a totally different ballgame; a huge ocean and it takes time to establish oneself here,” says the Vizag boy, who was recently in Vizag to perform at the Sounds on Sand music fest.
Sporting a black leather jacket with spikes hair and dark glasses, the singer looked very much at ease with all the limelight surrounding him in the recent past. While there is no doubt that he is enjoying the attention, being performer has its flipside too, he says. “I hail from a middle class family and I know my roots. Yes, there is pressure on me to look good when you go out there to perform. The pressure affects me. Sometimes I lose my cool, which is bad,” says Revanth.
Born in Srikakulam, Revanth completed his schooling from Visakhapatnam before shifting base to Hyderabad to pursue his passion for music which has been on the rise every since. In Srikakulam, he had studied in Bala Bhanu Vidyalayam and mastered ‘veda parayanam’, which he feels helped him to pick up the nuances of music from an early age. He had lost his father even before he was born and worked at PCO booths and catering companies.
Bollywood events
While the talented singer was already an established singer in the Telugu and the Kannada film industry before Indian Idol, the platform, he says, has got him noticed in Bollywood. “I am doing Bollywood events now. My aim is to rock Bollywood one day. It is definitely not an easy journey. Even to get my first break in the Telugu film industry, it had taken me eight long years,” says Revanth. While he has sung over 200 songs in Telugu and Kannada films, Revanth’s rendition of Manohari... in Baahubali made a big impact. His more recent film was the latest hit Arjun Reddy where he sang the break-up song. Going forward, Revanth is excited to work with new music directors.
As him about his most memorable moments in his musical journey so far, the young singer says: “I was in danger zone in first two episodes of Indian Idol. After that my mother came and that episode was the most memorable moment of my life. Her presence gave me the inner strength and conviction. My family was my strength from the first day,” says the Revanth.
