The Eighties are roaring back into town with some of Chennai’s leading musicians paying a tribute to two rock bands that defined the generation: Whitesnake and Journey.

The band will include Timothy Madhukar on vocals, Josh Mark Raj, Vikram Vivekanand on guitar and vocals, Mario Nambiar on bass and vocals, Vivin Kuruvilla on keyboards and Rahul Gopal on drums.

The musicians are or have been part of various bands over the years; Vikram currently plays for Grey Shack.

“We have all grown up listening to Whitesnake and Journey’s music, and it has influenced our own musical styles in some way or the other,” says Rahul, adding that their music has been a part of his playlist since he was 17.

It is fitting, then, that the tribute comes from this group, which promises to make it a night of powerful music. The set list includes big hits such as ‘Is this Love’, ‘Here I Go Again’, and ‘Fool For Your Loving’ by Whitesnake and ‘Who’s crying now’ and ‘Separate Ways’ by Journey.

“And yes, you will have to stay till the end because we are not playing ‘Don’t stop believing’ until then,” says Rahul.

The performance will be held on October 26 from 9 pm onwards at Bay 146. Call 9710976876.
